James Rhodes is a world-renowned pianist who plays sold out audiences around the world. James’ memoir is a raw and uncompromising account of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a teacher.
The campaign required extremely sensitive handling due to a court injunction to prevent publication.
We had to balance what we were allowed to say while ensuring as much coverage for the book as possible
We enlisted supporters Benedict Cumberbatch and Stephen Fry to generate positive messages around James’ story and finally the Supreme Court lifted the injunction.
This decision was hailed as a milestone of free speech and we used this to generate national TV and broadsheet news stories for the book.
We also created a UK tour of major festivals, music and theatre venues where James could finally tell his story and perform to new audiences
